Jordan Historical Museum
of the Twenty

3802 Main St.
Jordan, Ontario

905-562-5242

Named for its proximity to the banks of the picturesque Twenty Mile Creek, the Jordan Historical Museum of the Twenty awaits you with an array of unique experiences.

The early lives of the Loyalists and Pennsylvania Mennonites are represented in the architecture, the grounds, in the exhibits, and in the research library. Join us for a guided tour of our past as we take you first of all into our exhibit gallery, the Heritage House. There, you'll see artifacts and carefully researched information, telling the story of our area. Featured is a room dedicated to our fine collection of rare and charming fraktur folk art. From the Heritage House, let our well-informed guides take you into our beautifully restored historic buildings.

Built in 1815, the Fry House is a unique example of Pennsylvania German Mennonite architecture. It has been restored to represent domestic life as it was in the house in 1835. It offers a glimpse of the life of the pioneer-craftsman, with most of the original furnishings and family belongings intact. The Fry House also showcases an important collection of textiles and weaving traditions.

The stone School House was built in 1859, and has been lovingly restored to depict the school as it was in 1908. Go back to the world of slates, pen and ink, and separate entrances for boys and girls!

A rare giant cider press complements our buildings and grounds, as does the shared Loyalist and Mennonite churchyard.

The Museum offers delights for the nature lover, as well. Bring a picnic, and enjoy our beautiful tree-shaded grounds, or take the stairway down into the Twenty Mile Creek valley, and follow the Waterfront Trail as it winds along the valley floor. Don't forget to follow the path to the Village of Jordan, and enjoy world class wines, cuisine and accommodations, and shop in charming boutiques offering that perfect gift (or go ahead and spoil yourself!)

Of special note is our own Heritage Gift Shop, founded in the Museum's 40th Anniversary Year. Run entirely by volunteers, the Heritage Gift Shop offers the very best of items selected just for you!

Take a stroll with us into yesteryear, and let us take you to a world of unexpected delights!
